David Perry is the author of the new book The Public Scholar from Johns Hopkins University Press. The Public Scholar is a true step-by-step how-to guide for academics who want to write for public audiences, from how to pitch an editor to knowing if your book is a trade book to surviving on social media. David is also the co-author of the HarperCollins book The Bright Ages: A New History of Medieval Europe, and his writing on history, parenting, disability, and politics has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Nation, and many other outlets.
